Chanel Logo

The signature Chanel logotype is an interlocking double-C (one facing forwards the other facing backwards.) Originally it was not a logo that Coco Chanel came up with. The logo was given to her by the Chateau de Cremat in Nice. The logotype was not trademarked until the opening of the first Chanel stores.

Chanel is currently dealing with illegal use of the double-C logotype on cheaper goods, especially counterfeit handbags and they have stated that it is a top priority of theirs to stop the sale of counterfeit products. Countries said to be producing great numbers of counterfeit Chanel handbags are Vietnam, Korea, and China. An authentic Chanel handbag retails from around $1,500 USD,  while a counterfeit usually costs around $100 USD, creating a demand for the signature style at a cheaper price. All authentic Chanel handbags are serialized, beginning in the 1990s.

Chanel Large Classic Calfskin Bag

Coco Chanel established her reputation as a meticulous fashion couturier. Following the fashion trends of the 1920s, Chanel produced beaded dresses. The suit in two or three pieces created in 1920 remains a modern fashion look. The suit was advocated as the “new uniform for afternoon and evening as far back as 1915.” 1921 saw the introduction of her first perfume Chanela No.5. Earnest Beaux created the fragrance for Coco and she named it after her lucky number 5. The fragrance was a success. The signature scent was a result of her belief in superstitions. She was scheduled to show her collection on the fifth day of the fifth month. Coco informed Harper’s Bazaar, “simplicity is the keynote of all true elegance”, in 1923.

This extra large classic in quilted grained calfskin with CC clasp and leather interlaced chain is come from Chanel Spring-Summer 2009 new arrivals. The Chanel offcial model is A46558 Y01558 10601.

Chanel Classic Lambskin Flap Bag

Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel heralded new designs and revolutionized the fashion industry by going “back to basics”, incorporating elegance, class, and originality. Under her tight reign from 1909-1971, Coco Chanel held the title as ‘Chief Designer’ until her death on January 10, 1971. In 1909, Gabrielle Chanel opened a shop on the ground floor of the Balsan’s apartment in Paris - the beginnings of what would later become one of the greatest fashion empires in the world.[1] The Balsan home was a meeting place of the hunting elite of France and the gentlemen brought their fashionable mistresses along, giving Coco the opportunity to sell the women decorated hats. During this time Coco Chanel struck up a relationship with Arthur Capel, a member of the Balsan men’s group.

This classic hand painted lambskin flap bag with a pink to white fade effect is come from Chanel 2009 spring and summer collections. It measures as W24H16D8CM.

Chanel Large Black Calfskin Bag

In general, I’m an enormous fan of everyday objects turned into art objects. Celebrating the beauty in everyday, functional things is a worthwhile pursuit; the design equivalent to “stopping to smell the roses.” And perhaps if we begin to blur the line between beautiful things and functional things, we would end up with more things that are BOTH beautiful and functional, and then we all win. Taking pleasure in the everyday is nothing to sneeze at, after all.

Chanel’s contribution to this idea is their Spring/Summer 2009 Essential Handbag. Modeled after the iconic shopping bags of their 31, Rue Cambon flagship location in Paris, the bags are produced in smooth calfskin in Chanel’s signature palette of black, white and pale pink. They come in three sizes – small for $1525, which is the only of the three available pale pink, medium for $2625, and large in $2995. From the information that we received from Chanel, it’s unclear whether the small is also available in white and black – if you’re interested, a call to your local boutique may be warranted.

Chanel Large Flap Bag

The company has had many high-profile celebrities as spokesmodels, including Catherine Deneuve (1970s Chanel No.5 spokensmodel), Nicole Kidman (early 2000s Chanel No.5 spokesmodel), Audrey Tautou (current Chanel No.5 spokesmodel), and most famously, Marilyn Monroe (1950s Chanel No.5 spokesmodel) pictured splashing herself with a bottle of Chanel No. 5. The image is certainly the most famous of all Chanel advertisements, and continues to be one of the most popular advertisement photos in the history of marketing, used in countless biographies, and still selling in large quantities as a poster and art piece using Marilyn Monroe as the model.

Chanel is a brand that continues to have success with their classics. One of the classic handbags that was highly sought after was discontinued years ago, the Chanel Classic XL Jumbo Flap. And many Chanel lovers wanted this iconic bag back. Chanel has answered by having the re-release of the Classic Chanel XL Jumbo flap which will make a come back early 2009. The bag will be renamed the Chanel Maxi Bag and will be available in many colors, in both lambskin and caviar leather. And time is pasting, they really did it.

Marc Jacobs And Louis Vuitton’s Fall 2009

There’s something strange about Marc Jacob’s design ways! Everything he touches turns into golden sand castle. But rest assured, there’s no sand castle, be it gold, that’ll hold up to the next season’s sea of trends! So we should be safe from this rabbit-ears infection next year (and, maybe, this year’s LV ad-solarization wouldn’t hit next year’s Ad Campaign also)

Yes, he invents the wheel with every passing season, but it’s not a life-lasting wheel, unfortunately. Marc Jacobs is a prisoner of trends. Trendier he gets, the easier it would be for his followers to get over him.

He goes so well with Juergen Taller’s photo style, it would’ve been impossible not to pair them up: it shines so much and it’s so weirdly catching your attention, you can’t overlook it. (have you noticed that the LV Fall 2009 Ad Campaign looks bizarrely Teller-ish positioned even if its photographer it’s Meisel?) But once you turn the page, Juergen Teller’s photo is long gone from your visual memory! Now let’s give it to Marc Jacobs himself explaining the hows and the whys of Bunny Ears 2009.
