In 1914 Burberry was commissioned by the War Office to adapt its officer’s coat to suit the conditions of contemporary warfare, resulting in the “trench coat”. After the war, the trench coat became popular with civilians. The iconic Burberry check was created in the 1920s and used as a lining in its trench coats. Burberry also specially designed aviation garments. A. E. Clouston and Mrs. Betsy Kirby Green made the fastest flying time to Cape Town from London in 1937 and were sponsored by Burberry.
This small glossy grain leather pilgrim bag with shiny metallic burberry logo at front base of the bag is $850 and sized as 11 1/2″ x 8″ x 5″ with a 7″ drop from top of strap to top of bag. There are two rolled leather handles with check engraved shiny metallic buckles, dark nickel finish hardware, thick metallic chain ornate with check engraved plaques attached to front handle and top zip closure. Interior, there are two patch pockets and one zip pocket. It has two collors: burgundy and black (with large zoom).
